About Me

My name is Parker Poore, a Strength and Conditioning coach as well as a Mental Performance Coach that works in the professional hockey setting currently. My goal is to asses, identify goals, and properly plan out a frame work that not only challenges the athlete appropriately, but provides consistent feedback that they themselves can evaluate. Ultimately, I want the athlete to have autonomy of how to go about their struggles they are experiencing in sport with guidance from me as the coach.

Why I Want To Be A Coach

After working in the Strength and Conditioning side of performance for over 6 years, I saw the growing need to acknowledge one of the biggest missing pieces of performance, mental performance. I graduated from Adams State with a M.S. in Applied Sports Psychology where I have been taking what I learned there and applying it to the athletes I work with in a professional hockey setting. Outside of hockey, I have also worked with collegiate level athletes, as well as high level golfers. Knowing the challenges professionals face, and working back from there to the youth athlete has given me a framework and perspective to build foundational mental skills that all athletes should be able to work on while tailoring sessions to what individual athletes have been identified to need.

My Coaching Philosophy

My philosophy in Mental Performance is the same as it is in Strength and Conditioning. Do the simple things incredibly well and success will come. By creating incredibly strong foundational skills in mental performance, we can create more resilient as well as autonomous athletes that learn how much more in control of themselves they really are.

I Best Describe My Coaching Style As…

Open. I believe in order to have success with any athlete it is important to be open and honest with them. Once the athlete begins to know they are a person first more so than an athlete then a relationship can be establish based on trust and proper decision making. If the athlete doesn't think you care, performance will always be withheld.
