Why I Want To Be A Coach

Coach Nelson’s mission is to positively impact the world through Love, Effort, Attitude and Discipline (#LEAD). He holds a doctorate in Sport and Performance Psychology and currently serves as a head high school football coach, trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and college professor. His past professional experience includes time in both professional and collegiate sport and with a Fortune 100 Company. Coach Nelson has earned multiple awards for his leadership abilities and was one of PCA’s 50 National Double-Goal Coach Award Winners in 2018, a national award honoring coaches who strive to win while also pursuing the second, more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports! He was also the recipient of the Semper Fi Coach Award honoring one Ohio high school football coach who had overcome significant obstacles in order to succeed and display faithfulness to the mission of their team and exemplify the Marine standard of excellence in developing leaders. It recognizes a high school football coach who lives out the Marine Corps motto: Semper Fidelis (“”Always Faithful””), and who models the Marine Corps leadership values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
